Fel rhan o’i thema ‘Bwyd’ y tymor diwethaf, penderfynodd disgyblion dosbarth Llywelyn (Bl 3 a 4) greu llyfr ryseitiau yn cynnwys eu hoff ryseitiau. Er mwyn gwneud y llyfryn yn ddiddorol, cysylltodd y disgyblion efo rhai o enwogion Cymru, megis actorion a chantorion er mwyn iddyn hwy gynnwys eu hoff ryseitiau hefyd. Yna, aeth y disgyblion ati i gasglu noddwyr ar gyfer y llyfr, ei gael wedi ei argraffu yn broffesiynol gan Coleg Cambria ac yna ei werthu i rieni, teuluoedd, ffrindiau a staff yr ysgol, gan roi’r holl arian o’r gwerthiant tuag at elusen o’u dewis. Yr elusen a ddewisiwyd gan y disgyblion oedd Ty’r Eos ac ar ddiwedd y tymor, cafwyd cyfle i gyflwyno siec am £665 i gynrychiolwyr o Ty’r Eos pan ddaethant i siarad efo’r dosbarth am eu gwaith. Bu hwn yn brosiect gwerth chweil a roddodd gyfle nid yn unig i gefnogi achos da, ond hefyd i’r disgyblion gael datblygu gwahanol sgiliau megis llythrennedd, rhifedd, digidol a datrys problemau i enwi ond rhai. Cawsant gyfle i ddysgu am y broses dylunio a chyhoeddi hefyd ac i gymryd perchnogaeth dros eu dysgu eu hunain. Llwyddasant hyd yn oed i berswadio Mr Osian Jones y pennaeth (sy’n Gardi!) i agor ei waled, er y bu’n rhaid gyrru casglwyr dyledion y dosbarth i’w swyddfa fwy nac unwaith!
Diolch yn fawr i bawb a gefnogodd y prosiect mewn rhyw ffordd neu’i gilydd a da iawn i’r disgyblion i gyd am eu gwaith clodwyw. Isod mae chydig o luniau o’r disgyblion wrth eu gwaith a’r actores Sian Beca Tomos, y cyflwynydd Mari Lovgreen, y gantores Elin Fflur a’r bocsiwr proffesiynol Sion Yaxley efo copiau o’r llyfr.
As part of their work on the theme ‘Food’ last term, Llywelyn class (Years 3 and 4) created a recipe book that included their favourite recipes. To make the book more interesting, the pupils contacted famous Welsh people such as actors and singers, asking them to send in their favourite recipes. They then proceeded to get sponsors for the book, to get it professionally printed by Cambria College and then sold the book to parents, families, friends and staff giving all the money made towards a charity. The charity they chose was Nightingale House and at the end of term, a cheque for £665 was presented to representatives from Nightingale House when they visited the school to talk about their work. This was a very worthwhile project that not only gave the opportunity to support a local charity, but also the opportunity for the pupils to develop skills such as literacy, numeracy, digital and problem solving just to name a few. They learnt about designing and printing and also took responsibility for their own learning. They even persuaded Mr Osian Jones the head teacher (who’s from Cardiganshire!) to open his wallet, although they did have to send the class debt collectors to his office more than once!
Thank you to everyone that supported the project in anyway and well done to all the children for their work. Below are some pictures of the pupils at work and the actress Sian Beca Tomos, the presenter Mari Lovgreen, the singer Elin Fflur and the professional boxer Sion Yaxley with a copies of the book.
