A Year 4 pupil, who is also a class representative on the School Council, explained in school this week that she had been shopping with her brother and grandfather for towels and shampoo for those affected by the crisis in Ukraine.  The pupil asked if we could also raise money in school to help.  During a meeting with the older School Council members this afternoon, it was decided they would organise a ‘Peace Day’ to raise money to help Teams4U, a local charity, to provide essential aid to those affected (more information can be found here: teams4u.com/ukraine-appeal/).  The pupil designed the poster below to share information about the day.

The older School Council members decided to organise a ‘Peace Day’ rather than focus on the crisis in Ukraine, as they understand the situation is upsetting and worrying.  On the day we will focus on the children’s understanding of their human rights as well as promote the importance of respecting the needs and rights of others, as members of a diverse society.
